ABSTRAK

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of students in learning speaking skills after using the story completion technique that focuses on vocabulary, fluency and comprehensibility. The researcher applied the Pre – Experimental quantitative design, consists of pre-test, treatment and post-test and collected the data by giving pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was class VIII A at MTs Aisyiyah Pargodungan, Tapanuli Tengah which consisted of 30 students. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The result of the research showed score in the pre-test was 2,03 and score in the post-test was 3,63. In this research also show that the value t- test was higher than the value of the t-table (4,979>1,703). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It was concluded the implementation story completion technique in eight grades of MTs Aisyiyah Pargodungan, Tapanuli Tengah was effective to improve speaking skills consist of vocabulary, fluency and comprehensibility.
