ABSTRAK

 This study intends to discuss the implementation  of comic strips to improve students’ writing skills, especially in writing narrative text. The research was conducted at SMA N 5 Langsa. The participants in this study were all tenth grade IPA2 (science) students. The writer used observation to collect the data. The writer also used descriptive qualitative to anlyse the data in order to answer questions regarding people’s opinion, behavior, or characteristics. The result found that the students had a positive perception on the use of comic strips media in improving writing skills. This can be seen from the result of observation and group discussion in the classroom were students experienced an increase of 90% from the first meeting to the third meeting. All of the participants agreed that comic strips helped them to improve their writing skills through the writing they make into comics. In addition, comic strips also make them more excited to learn and expand their vocabulary and they can tell stories through the pictures in the comics they have seen and put them into their writing. Furthermore, the students believed that comic strips not only helped them to improve their mind and creative but also gave many advantages in improving their writing skills.
