ABSTRAK

The objective of this research was recognize the impact of using English animation video and how does video animation could impact to students’ critical thinking after the researcher applied animation video in teaching news item text at the SMA Negeri 3 Langsa. The research used experimental approach with quantitative method with one group pre-test post-test. The population of this research were students of SMA Negeri 3 Langsa at twelfth grade of IPA. They were consist of 252 students. Meanwhile, the sample was XII IPA 2 and the total numbers were 30 students of this research. Data analysis was carried out through hypothesis testing using Paired T-Test. The result of the research was found that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The pre-test mean score is 54, 13 (less critical) and Post-Test score is 81, 56 (Highly Critical). The degree freedom significance 5% was 2.045. It was higher than the result of the significance difference of the post-test that was 13.9 > 2.045. Thus, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The result of this research show that there was significant impact of using English animation video on students’ critical thinking.
