ABSTRAK

This study is about the analysis of types morpheme found in the short story by the Jakarta Post. The purpose of this study is to describe the words of types morpheme and to find out the functions of types morpheme in the short story by the Jakarta Post. The objectives of the study are (1) To describe the lexical morpheme, functional morpheme, derivational morpheme, and inflectional morpheme found in the Short Story by the Jakarta Post. (2) To find out the functions of the lexical morpheme, functional morpheme, derivational morpheme, and inflectional morpheme found in the Short Story by the Jakarta Post. The object of this study was the random short stories by the Jakarta Post. The findings of the research are: There were types of morpheme that the researcher found in the short stories are Lexical Morpheme in the Short Story by the Jakarta Post are verbs (144), nouns (209), adjectives (97), adverb (57), and many lexical morphemes found in the short story "When You Remember & New World Older than Jakarta Post ". While Functional Morpheme in the Short Story by the Jakarta Post are Preposition (31), Article (4), Conjunction (22), Pronoun (39), and many Functional Morpheme found in the short story "When You Remember & New World Older than Jakarta Post ". and then Derivational Morpheme in the Short Story by the Jakarta Post are re- (5),un- (8), pre- (1), al- (3), - sub- (1), dis- (1), over- (1) as prefixes, while the suffixes are –ly (37), -ing (3), - y (15), -ness (7), -able (8), -ful (8), -or (3), -ment (6), -less (3), –ion (4), -s (1), - le (1), -ance (1), -tion (19), -ity (1), -sion (1), -ous (5), -ive (1), -ic (1), -ory (1), -iest (1) and many derivational affixes found in the short story “When You Remember & New World Older from Jakarta Post”. the last Inflectional Morpheme in the Short Story by the Jakarta post are –s (122), -ing (46), - d (20), -en (3), -ed (25), -est (3), -er (4) and many inflectional affixes found in the short story “When You Remember & New World Older from Jakarta Post”. The result of this analysis have different function. Lexical morpheme is to make the word can be complete and it can convey the content of the message in the short story. While, The function of functional morpheme as a conjunction in a sentence. And also The function of derivational morpheme is the word of changing the part of speech. The last The function of inflectional morpheme gets an addition word.
