ABSTRAK

In improving students' foreign speaking skills (English), Darul Aitami integrated Islamic boarding school has a language rules system, namely by applying rewards and punishments system. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of applying rewards and punishments on students' speaking skills. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were the head of language, English teacher, male jawasus, female jawasus, class XII MAS student Darul Aitami. Data collection techniques with interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis techniques carried out are data collection, data reduction, discussion and verification. The results of this study show that the applying of rewards and punishments can improve students' speaking skills. It can be seen from the increase in students scores in English lessons, especially in speaking material wich has increased from class X to class XII and this is by the reason the percentage of students responses in the range of 63.7% which is classified as suitable to apply in Darul Aitami integrated Islami boarding school. The applying of rewards and punishments has been running very well, has been running for a long time and still persists today. With the application of rewards and punishments to foreign language regulations (English) have increased students' learning motivation, so that students' speaking skills continue to increase. With this, students become faster to understand the language and the achievements of students increase and are able to win various competitions in the field English
