ABSTRAK

This study focus of: 1.To find out the use of English Dictionary in strengthen student’s vocabulary. 2.To describe the student’s perceptions on the use dictionary in learning English to the students at SMP Negeri 13 Langsa. This study was conducted by using qualitative approach and case study method. The samples were students VIII-2 of SMP Negeri 13 Langsa. There are seventeen students invited in this study. This study used observation in the class VIII-2 ,15 items of Questionnaire and interview eight students as the instrument for data collecting . The data analysis was decriptive analysis in the form of number and percentage. The study revealed that printed dictionary is mostly use by the students in strengthen students’ vocabulary in lerning. It can be approved by in practice dictionary the high percentage is 97,6%, in types dictionary the high percentage is 98,8% and in the uses of dictionary the high percentage is 97,7% . The students perceptions when use dictionary they are very interesting to use printed dictionary because it very easy to carry and it is better to find a new vocabulary then most of students have a dictionary
