ABSTRAK

This study was carried out to improve students’ writing skill of descriptive text at the Tenth Grade at SMA Negeri 1 Karang Baru in Academic Year 2021-2022. The subject of this study consisted of 40 students’. The method in this research was Quasi-experimental research. The quasi-experimental research designed were used two classes which were experimental class and control class. The research was taken by using purposive sampling. Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatments, and giving post-test. The data analyzed in this research was gathered through writing test. The data gathered in this study used instruments tests. The results of the study showed that there was an improvement of the students’ writing achievement of the descriptive text. Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatments, and giving post-test. The result of the research proved that there was a difference score between students’ score in expirement class and control class. According to the result of the formulas it can be seen that mean score of post-test in experimental class was 73 and the mean score of post-test in control class was 54. Mean differences value in percentage between experiment class and control class are 47.50% and 7.50%. As a conclusion, mind mapping technique can be effectively to be used to teach writing competence because mind mapping technique can be improve students’ writing skill of the descriptive text at Tenth Grade students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Karang Baru.
