ABSTRAK

The aims of the study were to find out the kinds of media used by teacher and to know the implementation of the media that used by teacher in teaching English at SMA Negeri 4 Langsa. The researcher conducted this research at the second grade of SMA Negeri 4 Langsa. In this research the researcher will use descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data was an English teacher. The researcher used ovservation as the instruments of the of data collection. The result of observation showed that in the first observation, the English teacher use media in teaching was tape recorder in teaching listening skills, focus on vocabulary, the students listened the song that played by the teacher in three times. In the second observation, the teachers use student’s English textbooks in teaching vocabulary, the teachers asked the student to memorize ten vocabularies. Then, the teachers asked the students to open the book in accordance with the material to be learned today and then the teacher explained the the material learned. In the third observation, the teacher used video, laptop in teaching narrative text. The video used was about Cinderella.
