ABSTRAK

The aim of this research is to describe how the use of good speech acts through talk show conversations influences understanding and knowing good speech acts to use and how to respond well for English listeners. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The object in research is a talk show video taken on Youtube and analyzed through conversations or transcript in the video. Researchers use transcript, observations, and tables to collect data. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative. Analysis of speech acts and behavior is a learning process. They are able to identify the type of language and behavioral responses of listeners in video talk shows. In this analysis, researchers had 58 data which were classified into several types of speech acts and behavior contained in the video. In the type of speech act which has 3 types, namely locutionary with 6 data, illocutionary with 49 data and 3 data for locutionary. Illocutionary speech acts have different types, including directive, commissive, assertive, expressive and declarative with behavior. This research shows that the 3 talk show videos contain speech acts and behavior, and the most dominant one found in the result of this analysis is illocutionary speech act with data result reaching 49 data and behavior influencing this analysis. Video analysis plays a role in learning to make good speech acts and improve language skills. The result of analysis of speech act and behavior will help student and society as a whole to improve their communication skills because they will be familiar with various language and how to respond with good behavior seen by many people.
