ABSTRAK

The purpose of the research were to find out teacher/students talk categories used in classroom interaction and to describe how is teacher-student interaction in classroom interaction of english foreign language. The participant of this research are english teacher and 14 students from class X hospitality at SMK N 3 Langsa. This research used qualitative research. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. Researcher used observation checklist, audio recording, and interview to collect the data. The result of this research indicated that all categories of teacher and student talk appeared in classroom interaction based on Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories such as, accepts feeling, praise/encourage, accepts students ideas, ask question, lecture, give direction, criticize/justify authority, student talk response and initation. The result of this research also showed that teacher conduct classroom interaction with students by involve students to participate the learning process. Meanwhile the students less participate during teaching and learning process.
