AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING ON WRITING ORGANIZATION OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

ABSTRAK

 Descriptive text is writing that describes what will be expressed by the author, so that the reader can see the object that has been discussed, even though the reader or listener has never witnessed it himself.The structure of the description includes identification, classification, and description of parts. In writing descriptive text there are 5 (five) elements that greatly influence the quality of descriptive text, namely Content, Organizational Content, Structure and vocabulary, Grammar, Spelling and Writing. In this study the authors used a qualitative descriptive method. The instruments in this study used interviews, observation, documentation and student journals. The results showed that a score of 50-70 was 4 students with a percentage of 15,38%. While the value of 71-80 was found as many as 10 students with a percentage of 38,46%. The value of 81-90 is 5 students with a percentage of 19,23%. The value of 91-100 was found to be 7 students with a percentage of 26,93%. As many as 85% of students get good degrees, while 15% of students get enough degrees. The average value obtained by students is 81,73. The value of students' description text writing skills is in a very good category.
