ABSTRAK

The research is focused on analyzing the types of non-verbal communication used in the learning process and the impact of non-verbal communication in the learning process. The purpose of this research is to identify the types of nonverbal communication used in the learning process and the impact of non-verbal communication in the learning process. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. This research used the theory from Randy Fujishin about creating communication that discuss about the explanation and types of nonverbal communication. The data source was from two different teachers’ in two classes at SMP Negeri 5 Langsa. The research revealed that many types of nonverbal communication are used in the learning process. The types are posture, hand gesture, head gesture, facial expresion, paralanguage, personal presentation, and proxemics. The research also revealed the impact of non-verbal communication in the learning process. The impact are can affect the classroom atmosphere, students 'interest in learning, students' understanding and ultimately affect the students’ academic score. This research is expected to help the reseracher and the reader to know the types of non-verbal communication and the impact of non-verbal communication in the learning process.
