AN ANALYSIS OF SPEECH ACT USED BY ENGLISH TEACHER IN ENGLISH TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS AT SMP N 2 LANGSA. Skripsi, Universitas Samudra.
ABSTRAK
The objective of this research is to identify the speech act produced by English teacher in teaching and learning process at SMP N 2 Langsa. The reseacher used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this study was English teacher of SMP N 2 Langsa at grade of VIII-7. The instrument were observation and interview. The result of this research show that four types of speech acts used by English teacher in teaching and learning process. They were representative, expressive, directive, and commissive. Directives were found to be dominant performed by the teacher during teaching and learning process. It was mostly expressed for asking, requesting, ordering, commanding and warning statement to participate the student more actively in the lesson. Meanwhile,representative as the second types of speech act used by the teacher to expressed explaining, confirming, correcting, concluding and informing statement for students to make them understand. Another types, namely expressive was rarely used by the teacher to opening and closing activity in teaching learning process. Last, was commissive used by the teacher for showing the promise statement when the teacher closing the activity.
