ABSTRAK

Gender refers to the characteristics of social constructed female and male. Gender is one of the issues relate to the lives of them, both in all aspects of life. The purpose of this study whether to see if gender was equally represented in English textbooks for seventh grade. The object of the study was English Text Book entitled When English Rings A Bell, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia 2018, revised edition 2017. A qualitative approach was applied. Meanwhile, the subject focuses on the six aspects of the analysis based on Logsdon (1985), namely the number of female/male pictures, the number of women/men mentioned, the number of female/male roles, the number of female/male games, the number of female/male role models and the pattern of mentioning female/male names. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the male gender was more dominant than the female.
