ABSTRAK

The aim of this research was to analyze and identify the causes what are the most psychological problems in learning speaking faced by students in 11th grade of SMA N 1 Langsa. This research used a  case study method, subject of this study was students of class 11th which consist of 10 students, and the data was collected through questionnaires and interviews sheets, the result shows that most of the students have psychological problems, psychological problems students encounter are 60 % lack of confidence, 20 % shyness, and 20 % fear. the causes of psychological problems,  like biological factors, psychological factors (traumatic life experiences, family or school violence, emotional, sexual, and physical abuse), and environmental factors (death, dysfunctional family, discrimination) but the biggest factors are psychological and environmental. It was concluded that psychological problems have the potential to distract students speaking learning effort, the researcher hopefully parents and teachers raised awareness about psychological problems because, if the thing ignored could make interfere with students' productivity or life adjustment.
