ABSTRAK

This thesis is about an analysis of errors in using conditional sentence tpe II. This study deals with errors in conditional sentence type II in questions. This study focuses only on the grammar. The population for this study is the students of SMA Swasta Cut Nyak Dhien Langsa. The sample is eleventh grade students at class XI IPA consist of twenty five students. The purposes of this study are to know whether the cause of error forced by student especially in learning conditional sentence type II and how the student encountered error in using conditional sentence type II. The writer conducted the library and field research. In the library research, the writer collected all information from some books, which related to the study. Moreover, for the field research the writer conducted the test. Based on the data, showed that: there are 1 students (4%) get the score 80 – 100 (excellent category), 8 students (32%) who get the score 70 - < 80 (good category), 16 students (64%) who get the score 60 - < 70 (fair category), and the total score is 1670 of 25 students. The mean score is 66,8. However, the teacher should motivate the student in order to their attention about English only. Teacher should make the students to be fun and enjoy when they learn English subject in the class, especially in learning English grammar
