STUDENTS’ ERROR ANALYSIS ON WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

ABSTRAK

The title of this research is error analysis of students’ writing in descriptive text at SMKN 3 Langsa. The purpose of this researchare to identify types of error made by the students in writing descriptive text at SMKN 3 Langsa and to know dominant errors made by the students in writing descriptive text at SMKN 3 Langsa.This research used qualitative research to analyze the data. The instruments of this research are test. The purpose of test is to know how the students wrote descriptive text and instrument is to know the students understood about writing descriptive text. The result study of test that the researcher found error of transitional signal in students writing descriptive text especially types of errors namely misformation, addition, omission and misrodering.She found errors of student text 1 until 10 namely misformation, addition, omission and misrodering. She found that there are 22 students’ error in writing descriptive text namely omission totally 8 mistakes (36,36%), addition totally 0 mistake (0), misrodering totally 1 mistake (4,55%) and misformation totally 13 mistakes (59,09%). It meant omission is more dominant of the students’ errors in writing descriptive text thanmisrodering. Misrodering is more dominant of the students’ errors in writing descriptive text than addition and misformation is more dominant of the students’ errors in writing descriptive text of them.The researchers found misformation errors that were more dominant in analyzing students' writing. The researcher hopes for the next researchers can developthis research becomes a better and different object such as listening, speaking, and reading and also theycan support this research.
