ABSTRAK

This study focus to know how is the crossword puzzle implemented by English teachers and the effectiveness crossword puzzles media for students’ vocabulary mastery. It came from a problem the vocabulary of English students is very lacking. This results in students being less able to understand the material being taught. In addition, teachers still often use conventional media, so it is less able to increase students' motivation to learn English and the learning process feels monotonous. Because of that above, we need an alternative learning that can make it easier to learn the mastery of English vocabulary. The solve this problem the several teacher had appliied crossword puzzle use as teaching madia to increase students vocabulary mastery.This research was conducted with qualitative design type library research. The instrument of this research were nine article journal that related with tittle. The qualitative data were analyzed by data reduction, data display, and verification. The result of the research Based on the implementation of each articles, showed that crossword puzzle was effective to helped students in students vocabulary mastery.It showed from the indicators the effectiveness of learning that suitable to the article, such as quality of learning it marked by the success of the students to achieve the lesson goals. Appropriate level of instruction, it showed the ability of the teacher to ensure the readiness of each students to learn. Incentives, it showed the ability of the teacher to encourage that students are motivated to learn. Times setting, it showed from the steps of the lesson process used
