ABSTRAK

The purpose of the study was to know how the English teacher used fix up strategy in teaching reading and what skills of reading can be implemented by using the strategy. This research was conducted by using a qualitative method. The data collection method used in this research was interview, documentation, and observation. Based on the observation and documentary, the researcher found that the fix up Strategy was interesting and beneficial for the students who studied English, mainly on the students’ ability in reading text during the process of teaching learning. In the final interview with English teacher, the fix up strategy can be used for English reading skills such a scanning, predicting, finding topic paragraph, skimming, and summarizing of the reading skills. Teacher are suggested to use this strategy in teaching reading comprehension because by applying this strategy students more active in teaching and learning process, and also can helps the teacher in monitoring and encouraging the students to comprehend the text easily
