ABSTRAK
This study focuses to describe the techniques used by a teacher in teaching English vocabulary for young learners in SD IT Al-Marhamah Langsa. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Data collection used in this study was observation, document and interview. The source of the data was an English teacher and the subjects were the fourth grade (Fathimah Binti Asad) students of SD IT Al- Marhamah Langsa. It was concluded that a teacher applied various techniques in teaching English vocabulary. For presenting new words, using pictures are preferred by a teacher in this study. In getting students to practice the words they have learnt, a teacher mostly employed matching task. For the final stage in teaching English vocabulary, a teacher familiarized creation in sentence and text. Another techniques used by a teacher are role-play and singing a song techniques.
