ABSTRAK

The aims of this study were to describe the types of teacher politeness strategies in motivating students to learn English and to discuss the teacher politeness strategies realized in motivating students to learn English. In data collecting procedure, the researcher used field notes as an instrument. The field notes was used to analyzing the scripts transcribing video recording by youtube the fact that related to politeness strategy entitled “K13 cara belajar mengajar Bahasa Inggris di kelas Tahun 2017” and classified into four strategies in doing FTA based on Brown and Levinson theory. The subject was the video recording of teaching and learning process by Mojikuy youtube. The result showed that the teacher employed three types of Politeness Strategies; Bald on Record, Positive Politeness and Negative Politeness and the teacher used Extrinsic motivation to realized the politeness strategies in motivating students to learn English. The most frequent of Politeness Strategy employed by the teacher in learn English is Bald on Record Politeness Strategy with 26 utterances, Positive Politeness with 47 utterances and Negative Politeness 16 utterances and the teacher realized politeness strategies used Extrinsic motivation with 44 utterances consist from commands 16 utterances, orders 6 utterances, praise 18 utterances and reward 3 utterances in motivating students to learn English.
