ABSTRAK

The process of reading does need a comprehension. The students need to understand the idea and information that they can get from the text. The comprehension does really occur when the reader understands fully information and idea written in the text. There will be no reading when there is no comprehension. Reading comprehension is a major objective of language instruction in English learning concept teaching in senior high school. As one of macro skill of English it is being important part in English Language Teaching. So, the teacher should teach actively to help students get the ultimate goal of reading instruction. Jigsaw is one of cooperative learning which is interesting to be applied to boost students motivation and interest in learning English especially to reading skill. The activities is centered to the students, so it can stimulated students activeness because they involved in active learning. Based on the tittle, the formulation of the problem were: 1) How is the application of Jigsaw technique in teaching reading analytical exposition text at SMA Unggul Cut Nyak Dhien ? 2) Does Jigsaw technique enhance students’ reading skill especially at analytical exposition text? Design of this research was Descriptive Research which applied an Experimental Research. As the source of data, research subject was students in class XI MIPA and the English Teacher in SMA Unggul Cut Nyak Dhien Langsa. The researcher chose the sample by using purposive sampling. The instrument were test then analyzed by scoring and counting the percentage by using Likert scale, interview, observation sheet and documentation.  The results of this research are; 1) The result of posttest slightly higher than pretest in conducted jigsaw method in SMA Unggul Cut Nyak Dhien Langsa, 2) The result of interview which had collected all students’ answer and response show that jigsaw technique impressed the students, make students active and increased the students mark.
