ANALYSIS ON ENGLISH TEXTBOOK “PASSPORT TO THE WORLD” BASED ON RAJAN’S THEORY

ABSTRAK

This research is mainly intended to find out how many kinds of the criteria that commonly compatible with criteria of good material based on Rajan’s theory and also to analyze the content of the textbook which is in line with Rajan’s theory. This research applies descriptive qualitative research. In collecting data the first procedure is looking for English textbook, The second step is the researcher observing the material in the textbook and then the researcher will selecting the materials which are compatible and relevant with Rajan’s theory and then identified what kind of criteria that found in the textbook and after that the researchers will give a reason why the material is compatible with Rajan’s theory. The result of the analysis shown that the “Passport to the world” English textbook for second grade of junior high school is suitable with Rajan’s theory. The researcher found 10 criteria from 11 criteria, it means that the material in the textbook are compatible with Rajan’s theory of good material. This research implies that the textbook “Passport to the world” English textbook for second grade of junior high school is a good textbook to support the learning process.
