ABSTRAK

The aims of this study were to find the types and functions of imperative sentence and to find the similarities and differences of imperative sentences between the Gayonese and English Language. The research conducted at Serbajadi District of Aceh Timur. This study was a qualitative research by using the Contrastive Analysis method. The reseach conducted on January 2022. The data collection method used interview, observation and ducumentation. In this study researchers used structured interview, the observation in society of gayo language. The results of this study indicate that the types of imperstive sentence in English and Gayo Language were positive imperative sentence consisted of 19 sentence and negative imperative sentence 4 sentences. The fuctions of imperative sentence in English and Gayo Language were command, request, invitation, suggestion, advice and prohibition. The result of this study also indicate that there are differences and similarities between English and Gayo, namely in terms of sentence structure and sentence patterns themselves.
