ABSTRAK

The use of appropriate strategies in the teaching and learning process creates a pleasant learning atmosphere. In the teaching and learning process, the   teacher expected to provide teaching that is easily understood by students. For this reason, it was necessary to apply a strategy that can make students active and can solve problems in reading comprehension. The purpose of this study to find out about strategies used by the English teachers and those the strategies related to  students’  reading comprehension performance. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method. through observation sheet checklist, documentation and interviews. The results of this study show that memorazing, silent reading, reading aloud, discussion strategy, answer and question strategy used by the English teachers. This strategy was very related to student performance, it can helps in improving students' reading skills. This research was expected to help further researchers to develop the best strategy for the future.
