ABSTRAK

This study aims: 1) To determine the relationship between linguistic and logic-mathematical intelligence in Junior High School; 2) To find out whether linguistic and logic-mathematical intelligence can determine the rank of the student in the class. The population in this study were all students of SMP negeri 1 Langsa. The sample was 35 students of VIII-A which was divided into 17 male and 18 female students by using purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of correlation analysis shows that: 1) There was a positive and significant relationship between linguistic and logic-mathematical of VIII-A SMP Negeri 1 Langsa with a correlation coefficient= 0.647 which meant that linguistic intelligence had a positive and strong relationship with logic-mathematical intelligence, as well as the value of the t-test was greater than the t-value (t-score ≥ t-value), which was 4.4 while the t-value for the degree of freedom 34 with a significant level 0.01 (2.728) and 0.05 (2.032) which meant that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected meant that there was a significant relationship between linguistic intelligence and logic- mathematical intelligence in Junior High School; 2) Student who got the highest score was student who ranked 1 with an english score 96 and mathematic 90. Then student who got the lowest score was student who got the last rank in the class with an english score 56 and mathematic 55. It meant that linguistic intelligence and logic-mathematical intelligence could determine the rank of the student in Junior High School.
