ABSTRAK

 


The aims of this study were to find out the students’ perception toward English content on social media affecting their vocabulary mastery and to identify the impact of English content on social media toward student vocabulary mastery. This research used a qualitative research by using observation, questionnaire, vocabulary test and interview as instruments. This study involved three eleventh graders of science one at SMA Negeri 1 Langsa by using a purposive sampling. The findings in this research showed that: First, Youtube not only for watching movie but we can take advantage of the English content on youtube as a media for learning and finding information. Learning from social media can find information with various sources. They also think learning vocabulary from English content on Youtube is more interesting than from textbooks and they get a positive impact from using English content on youtube. Second, three student eleventh graders of science one at SMA Negeri 1 Langsa got 96,12% of positive impact from English content on social media, 54,86% of negative impact from English content on social media, got 5 score with each percentage score 93%, 91%, 90%, got excellent qualification from vocabulary test and got criteria as use of vocabulary to mastery English vocabulary.
