ABSTRAK

Soil has an important role in the construction of civil construction. The soil
investigation aims to obtain the soil technical properties of physical and mechanical
properties of the soil. This study aims to determine to know the effect of time and place
of storage the decrease in groundwater content measured were filter analysis. The
sample of this research is clay taken at Kampung Bandung, Kec. Manyak Payed, Kab.
Aceh Tamiang. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of clay is high
plasticity enough and the volume can change if content of water have a change, when
the dry condition can be depreciation and craked. The highest the content of water is
39,08 % in laboratory room on plastic box, and the low the content of water is 20,185
% in AC room on plastic box. The highest value to content of water of liqiuid limit is
49,195 % on plastic box in laboratory room and the loest the content of water is
18,215 % in AC room on the platic box. And to compation test, the highest value the
content of water is 30,12 % in laboratory room on cans and the lowest is 11,56 % in
AC room on plastic box. To weight drying the highest value is 1,71 gram/cm3 in
laboratory room and the lowest is 1,373 gram/cm3 in laboratory room on cans.
