LEARNING STRATEGIES USED BY HIGHER SCORE STUDENTS IN MASTERING VOCABULARY AT SMP NEGERI 9 LANGSA

ABSTRAK

The aims of this study were to find out the kinds of learning strategies and to know how the learning strategy are used by higher score students in mastering vocabulary at SMP Negeri 9 Langsa. The research conducted at second grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Langsa in academic year 2018/2019. the researcher selected 24 students as the sample. In this research, the researcher used quantitative research. Technique of data collection that used by the writer was questionnaire. The result of the study showed that the higher score students applied all language learning strategies in mastering vocabulary. The dominant strategy used by the students was social strategies; it was 30 “always” responds of 5 questions. There were 29 “always” responds of 5 questions for the item of Memory Strategy and Cognitive Strategies. The studnets used social strategy used by asked their friends to correct the English comprehension
